What if - gunshows become extinct??

OK... as a take-off from the More gun shows = fewer murders thread, suppose somehow (maybe indirectly by tax or burdensome regulation or outright law)... they do ban private sales at shows or even ban gunshows altogether, how do we continue our private property rights to buy/sell in a reasonable fashion? Specifically how will we hook-up for FTF transactions? Will a trusted network of local people spring up to ensure we are not entrapped? How will we find out that on Sat the 22nd, Joe will be having a garage sale in the church parking lot and he will have all kinds of goodies for sale (not just guns but accessories etc). Other than these disperse forums, Is there a network already in place in your area? Should there be?:553:

Local sales / classifieds with person to person sales......

We can use the Internet while it's still up to locate private sellers, too.

Re: What if - gunshows become extinct??

Some states already deny private party sales (since the mid-90's). All that would have to happen is a few technical problems found in an FFL's paperwork, and they could probably stop all gun sales in a targeted region, without much effort and no new laws.

I think if there is going to be a Clinton era style ban 2.0, the first thing they are going to try and do is shut the loophole on face to face transactions between non dealers. People will need to run everything through a FFL dealer to sell face to face. Similar to transfers on-line. If we go 2.0 I can see that happening without a doubt. At that point the underground economy will take over a portion of old face to face transactions for sure. It will be in tight knit groups and outsiders to the "business" will not be dealt with except through a FFL.

CASH will be King unless you can orchestrate a 'trade' / barter for what you want.

They can't do that!!

Where would people buy their Beanie Babies and beef jerky?

And where would they buy their reproduction Nazi equipment?

Horrors!!

Apparently some of you haven't actually READ the AWB II legislation waiting in the wings. Pretty much NO GUN SALES. PERIOD.

No face to face. No gunshows. NOTHING. And if you die, the government get's your firearms, accessories and ammo.

Plus expect some form of ammo taxation scheme, plus a 'registered bullet' type scheme as well. You will have less than one year to either shoot or destroy all the rest of your ammo.

THAT'S WHAT IS WAITING FOR US IN THE COMING MONTHS. YES IT WILL HAPPEN. ALL IT WILL TAKE IS ONE MORE 'TERRORIST' ATTACK AND THE 2ND AMENDMENT WILL GO RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW.

You read it here. Now 'hide and watch' it happen.

If they plan on going door to door to look for these "unregistered bullets", there will be resistance and overall that plan is not going to go very well. Door to door goon searches are not going to happen without serious issues.

Let's have some links Wallew - I think the limit of Transfers is a separate bill from the AWB-II that you outlined.

Other than that, if Public shows get banned then Private shows will take place.............Black Market Arms will take over. Heck, we all know 'weed' is illegal to have but it doesn't stop people getting it, right ?

You will probably be able to get anything you want at that point because it will become more profitable to run guns.

Right now it's not really worth the risk for most people to move full auto weapons and such. Most people, even criminals are mostly content to own a semi-auto AK.

Once there is a total ban, I think there will be alot of people who will say screw the semi-auto, as long as they are risking 10 years why not pick up a full auto AK or m-4 and grab the grenade launcher while I'm at it.

I in no way approve of such behavior, I'm merely forcasting what I think people might do.

That's why we shouldn't have a ban, those dirty, dirty guns will start to come in through all the ports, weapons start disappearing from Army bases, etc.

Yo, VICTOR - here ya go. And I didn't even post it. It doesn't specifically cover the ammo restrictions, but trust me, it's coming.

They have all the time in the world. Don't have to go door to do to **** you if they catch you with ammo.

Re: What if - gunshows become extinct??

I am not debating as to if there is going to be serious push to get AWB 2.0 up and running. All I am saying is at some point in that game you are going to see an underground economy spark up as a result and if they attempt to take "unregistered bullets", it's going to become an issue at some point.

Making laws to turn otherwise law abiding, gun owning citizens into criminals is not going to go down well with certain people in this country. Some will hide what they got, some will deal in the trade below ground level just like the drug trade, some are going to form up groups and probably go down Waco style, others will make a stand at their own homes. You push people too far and when they think they have nothing else to lose but their life.....well you never know what might happen. Everyone needs to get their mind right as to what camp they are going to fall into and then hold that line. Plan accordingly.

Re: What if - gunshows become extinct??

the thing is...they'll take the guns. And the ammo.

They'll blame the 'nuts' that wont give them up for all of the problems in the country.

I doubt the majority of people are as married to their guns as we'd wish they were.

Our only hope is either...

a) Revolution or
b) Revolution

Re: What if - gunshows become extinct??

I think Victor and Nighthawk are on the right track. We can look to England, Austrailia and Canada to see what happened when they were gathered up. There will be sporatic incidents and maybe a few Wacos and Ruby Ridges here and there but for the most part a large quanity of guns will be turned in making whats left a closely guarded secret. Two ways of "killing you softly" (pun on the song title) will be rewards to your friends and neighbors for turning you in and chance encounters during other types of official interactions. (like the tax assessor or meter reader making a visit and seeing something suspicious).
If FTF is outlawed, I doubt many will advertise their desires to buy/sell. It will be local black market and close trusted transfers. The FEA (firearms enforcement agency) will operate undercover to instil fear and protect the children just like other organizations today. It will be very difficult in the coming months and :s15:years.
